[Reminder] College Essay Workshop for 11th graders:

 

Sri Ramanavami – 2024: 

  • Ramayana Parayana is ongoing at Saaket. Sundara Kanda chanting is this evening (Sunday, April 14th) @5:00 pm. Please join us with your family and friends  
  • We’ll celebrate Sri Ramanavami on Tuesday, April 16th at Saaket.
  • Pooja will start @10:30 a.m. followed by Rama-Seeta kalyaaNam, aarati and prasad
  • Pooja+kalyaaNa yajaman sponsorships (@$501 per family) are still open. Mahaprasad sponsorships (@$75 per family) are available … if interested, please contact Ramesh Hegde (secretary@cmdfw.org)


Gita Chanting Competition 2024 / GitaFest 2024: 

  • Regionals (similar to our usual CMDFW competition): 

              o        Children: April 20th @ Chitrakoot @ 1:00 p.m.

              o        Adults: April 16-19 @ Saaket

  • Registration is OPEN now … Please register at https://events.cmdfw.org
    • Select GitaFest 2024 from the drop-down
    • Please register ASAP … the sooner you register, the earlier your turn to chant on the day of the competition!

We have a few important updates: 

  • #1 re: TX STATE FINALS, the date stays the same and will be held on May 18th. The location, however, will be *Chinmaya Saaket* instead of Chinmaya Mangalam in Barry, TX.
  • #2 The groups and shloka assignment for the Regional Competition are as follows:

Children Groups and shlokas:

Anagha* PreK and Kindergarten Shlokas   4.1 – 4.15
Arjuna Grades 1 & 2 Shlokas 4.1 – 4.42
Bharata Grades 3 & 4 Shlokas 4.1 – 4.42
Pārtha Grades 5 & 6 Shlokas 4.1 – 4.42
Guḍākeśa   Grades 7 – 9 Shlokas 4.1 – 4.42
Dhanañjaya Grades 10 – 12 Shlokas 4.1 – 4.42
  • #3 Competition format: Contestants are given the FIRST TWO words of the first pada of a shloka and they need to chant the rest of that Shloka and 2 consecutive shlokas after it. They will be given 6 such prompts and will chant a total of 18 + 1 (first shloka) shlokas.

Adults will chant all 42 shlokas in sequence.  Please participate in large numbers and chant *as many as you can memorize*!

As part of Gita Fest, CMW brings to you *Learn Gita* competitions!
Learn Gita is a Gita Knowledge Quiz, testing participant’s understanding of the words of the Shlokas from Chapter 4 of Bhagavad Gita.
You should’ve participated in the Chapter 4 Gita Chanting Competition conducted by one of the Chinmaya Mission Centers as a prerequisite for the Gita Knowledge Quiz. There will be a state level qualifying round and the Gita Fest Final Quiz will be conducted online on July 6, 2024.
