Seva
CMDFW runs on the seva of volunteers across many domains — service that keeps our centers humming and extends a hand to the wider community. There’s a place for every skill and every amount of time. Here are some of the ways you can serve.
Carry Seva Bhava beyond our walls — blood drives, food and clothing drives, Bhutanese community outreach, and CORD service visits across the DFW area.
Help prepare and serve meals for our camps and gatherings — the Labor Day retreat, high-school camps, and YEP programs at Chinmaya Mangalam.
Bring our celebrations to life — the Holi Walkathon, the annual banquet, and festival puja setup and decoration through the year.
Keep CMDFW running and visible — website upkeep, audio/visual support at every center, social media, and content creation.
Help our centers run smoothly, week in and week out — the front desk, the bookstore, parking and traffic on Sunday mornings, session setup and clean-up, and care of the temple at Saaket.
Guide the next generation — lead or assist a weekly Bala Vihar class, coordinate a center’s sessions, or support and train new teachers. Get Involved →
Bala Vihar Session Operations
Beyond our center-wide seva, Bala Vihar’s weekly sessions rely on a dedicated set of teams. If you’re part of the Bala Vihar family, here’s where you can pitch in.
Welcome Team & Miscellaneous Help — greet Bala Vihar families at the start of the academic year (the first day and the following few weeks), hand out the CMDFW Handbook, and keep the lobby running during festival celebrations.
Supplies, Storage & Inventory — organize and manage session supplies, keeping inventory tidy and checkout smooth for teachers.
Decoration Team — set up the stage and arati before every session, helping create the right atmosphere for Bala Vihar.
Pooja Team — set up for pooja at Saaket and Chitrakoot, and for special festival celebrations: arranging the altar, padukas, flowers, and everything the ritual needs.
Registration — help run the end-to-end registration process, entering and maintaining information in the database.
Web Team — help manage and maintain cmdfw.org website. Responsible for overseeing all content updates, administration of the site to ensure secure and reliable uptime, curating resources, events and all organization activities that need to be published.
Technical Maintenance — run the audio/visual room: microphones, video presentations, and recording during the Brahmacharins’ lectures.
Seva Projects — help our High School kids serve the wider community. Recent efforts include seva projects around Diwali, a food collection drive, and an annual peanut-butter-and-jelly (PB&J) sandwich-making event for local charities.
Extra-Curricular Activities — organize grade-level lock-ins and other activities that help children bond with members of CMDFW.
Picnic — help plan the annual Spring picnic with games, food, and prizes for a memorable day.
Retreat — each academic year, a Labor Day-weekend retreat for children in grades 5 through 12 at Chinmaya Mangalam. Contact the Brahmacharins / Session Coordinators to join.
